What is STQRY Collect?

Collections and community archives online, managed in STQRY Builder.

STQRY Collect is a collections management and publishing platform for museums, libraries, archives and community heritage groups. Staff catalogue their photographs, letters, maps, oral histories and objects, and Collect publishes them as a website the public can search and browse.

The public can do more than look. They can save favourites, build their own sets, comment, and upload their own photos and stories for the archive to review.

Picture a city library with thousands of scanned photographs of its region. With Collect, local people find their street, their school or their grandparents, and add what they know. That's Palmerston North's Manawatū Heritage website, and it's been running on Collect since 2017.

Inside STQRY you'll hear it called Curtis. That's the codename from when we took it on from Authentic, the company that built it for Palmerston North.

Why do customers buy it?

Most customers come to us because the system they have now has let them down. Before Collect, Manawatū Heritage had no links to individual items, didn't work on a phone, and Google couldn't find it. Archives Central is a group of nine New Zealand councils. Their current platform has failing date and fuzzy search, and features that were "promised but never delivered".

They want to own their data. Every Collect customer has their own storage, and their records export as standard data. Collect also shares its catalogue through OAI-PMH, the standard archives use to share records. If they ever leave, they take everything with them.

Heritage records are messy. A photo is "circa 1950s", a letter is "1912?". Collect stores fuzzy dates in EDTF, the Library of Congress standard, and still finds them in a date search. Authority files link every record about the same person, place or event. When we showed Sncewips Heritage Museum authority files, they said, "That would be really good for the archive."

And they want the community involved. A council archive is how a town remembers itself, and the people who know the photos are in the town.

Collect content doesn't appear in a customer's STQRY app or on a kiosk yet. Don't promise it. If a customer needs it, post it in #product-knowledge on Slack.

STQRY Collect is priced per site, by plan. The 2026 Pricebook (Collect tab) and Chargebee are the source of truth, where the plans are CollectLS, CollectStandard, CollectPro and CollectEnterprise.

Setup is $5,000 on every plan. Importing a customer's existing records is quoted separately, because every collection arrives in a different state.

Real deals often land below list. Friends of Minidoka are on Standard at $4,800 a year, and Sncewips got a 20% discount for taking more than one STQRY product. Unlike Signage, Collect isn't sold self-serve. Every deal goes through a conversation.
